Letzte Woche erschien Command & Conquer: Alarmstufe Rot 3 für Windows. Während das Spiel an sich durchaus nett zu sein scheint, glänzt Electronic Arts aber wieder einmal durch sagenhafte Unfähigkeit - und damit meine noch nichtmal den lästigen SecuROM7-Kopierschutz mit Online-Aktivierung und ganzen 5 gestatteten Installationen. Nein, diesmal kam es noch besser: Nachdem unvollständige DVD-Keys abgedruckt wurden (der eigentlich 20stellige Code hatte nur 19), tauchte auf der amerikanischen Support-Page von EA folgender “Workaround” auf:
“There is currently a work-around that may allow you to bypass this issue. Since you have the first 19 characters of the code already, you can basically try guessing the last character.
To do this, simply enter your existing code, and then for the last character, try the letters A-Z, and then the numbers 0-9. You should eventually get the right combination, and be able to play the game.”
Mittlerweile wurde dieser hilfreiche Ratschlag zwar gegen einen einfachen Verweis auf den “Contact Us”-Button ausgetauscht, aber diverse Seiten hatten EAs Dreistigkeit schon dokumentiert. Bravo.
